The history of the Yacht Club Hotel is in pieces with a
lot of those pieces missing, we are working on restoring the building and along the way we hope to
restore the history too.
If you have any of these treasures in your family history please share them with us.
Please enjoy the historic items we have so far.
The Yacht Club's name was Shary Yacht Club and it was a private club in about 1929. Palm trees and
yachts shared this hill in Port Isabel Texas in those days.

The Yacht Club private guest came and stay some for a
month at a time as we read in this post card postmarked 1947.
The post card mailed for 1 cent and was address to one Miss Elizabeth Schill for the Howard's'
they had vacation here for the month of November 1947
and enjoyed the warm gulf for fishing, Swimming, and boating.

John Hiller the owner and inn keeper has found a few of
these items on eBay and enjoys show them to his guests, so while you are there spend some time in
the lobby ,
were history lives. This post card in not used so we do have a date, this is an artist drawing and
the artist in unknown.

Another postcard John has in his display shows there was no name on the club at the time the photo
was taken. This postcard is also unused so we do not have at date.

This is the 1st color postcard John has, even thought it
dose not have a post mark, the writer gave us Wed. February 24,1960, 40 Degrees at 5:30pm.
At the time of the building of this web site the high today 2-12-2008 will be 75 degrees so in 1960
it was cold.

There are a number of books and newspaper that have
feathered stories on this grand old lady and we are
hoping that more history will be come to us so we can keep sharing it with our visitors, both
here on the web site and in the Yacht Club Hotel.
The hotel is open and ready for you to book a stay with us. Please call John Hiller at
956-943-1301.
